BBC2 Christmas Ident
An example of the BBC/Red Bee Media living up to their expectations of sheer brilliance. The image below really sets the Christmassy scene and you can just imagine how good the ident will look:
Flying turkeys, houses, a church, floating gingerbread men, this is a carefully developed BBC2 world, with some magical almost Harry Potter style music at the beginning which is quite delicate until the orchestral crescendo feeds in as the camera slowly pans out. I love this.
Fox Christmas
How appropriate... A bloody, gory Christmas tree! A cool way of promoting Crime on the Fox International channel. I love the way the camera appears to move the blood, it almost immerses you into it - which isn't all that nice really.
Red Bee Media
This is a company I genuinely want to work for, the work they produce is just brilliant. They produce work for the kinds of clients I want to work for, e.g. television channels like the BBC.
This is what they have to say:
"Crazy times call for a different kind of thinking. Because in the eye of this massive change, connecting viewers to content is the ultimate endgame. And that’s where we come in.
No matter what screen, no matter what platform, Red Bee Media can make those crucial connections. Our powerful blend of creative, technical and strategic expertise will create demand for your content, then ensure you deliver it to the widest possible audience."
They have won lots of awards, mainly for their BBC work which spans the BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC Sport, BBC World, CBBC and CBeebies.
They produced a campaign for BBC Knowledge their challenge was to:
"Create a campaign for BBC Knowledge to support the launch of its re-brand around the world. Its main aims: to deliver the brand proposition “liberating knowledge” and the brand values “wonder”, “ideas” and “passionate personalities”."
Here are some screen shots from their video, as it cannot be embedded. The views and camera work are fantastic and really delivers the idea of wonder, and worldwide views.
The second part involved celebrity interview revolving around the question 'When did you last say wow?' - the celebrities used are very influential and are Professor Brian Cox, Bruce Parry, Louis theoroux and others.
Doctor Who Christmas Ident
A very Christmassy ident - pleasant visuals and a humourous concept. Still featuring the circular motion, like the globe from the older BBC days.

T4's Refresh
T4 idents from double g studios on Vimeo.
I haven't seen this yet but this is the refresh for T4 - dancing robots! The music, and theme keeps it young and trendy, as their target audience is 16-34. I am more interested in the effects relating to the T4 logo rather than the robots themselves.Tuesday, 20 December 2011
Final Major Project
This is my new blog for Final Major Project, I have just finished my first 3rd year module where I took on a number of briefs focussing on branding, identity and promotion across print and motion - and this is still the kind of work I intend to produce.
Previous work can be found here.
