ITV2 Ident: Pool

This is a relaxed ident, aired August 2008, but I am not sure if it is still used now. I only seem to see the Dancing Feet!

The shot starts with a birds eye view of a very tanned lady in a bikini sunbathing who stands out against the white surroundings to a clean looking swimming pool, with a three dimensional ITV 2 logo that moves on to the diving board, with a splash sound as though someone has dived in. Then patterns begin to emerge from the wall of the pool along the floor, which incorporates a pattern of someone pushing off from the wall while swimming.

TRON!

Made by Man vs Machine!

Absolutely loved the graphics in Tron! I would love to make something as visually stunning as the title/logo - I love the use of lights, especially blue ones, they have a really futuristic feel to them. Look at this, its just...wow:

The colours and shapes of the type work great together, it's a really bold, strong visual. The chunkiness of the text almost reminds me of the Transformers logo.

This is similar in style to how the ITV ident will be - a motion graphic within a space. I love the simplicity of this.

Man Vs Machine

I have blogged them before and I will blog them again! These guys are behind the new More 4 rebrand consisting of colourful flipping triangles to represent the diversity of the programmes on the channel. I myself am still undecided on the different colours, it communicates their values but there's just something about it I am not sure on.

A number of live idents showing real flipping triangles out in the real world have been filmed. They were installations by Jason Bruges studio, and can be seen here:

This is a re-vamp they did for T4, the entertainment part of Channel 4. They produced a set of idents which are quite humorous, and made me smile when watching. The ideas are based on combining everyday objects with scenes:

Just beautiful. It speaks to the young 16-25 year olds that might watch T4!

Not To Scale: U.F.O

Another part to Not To Scale is the Unorthodox Film Organisation...

'...an eclectic directing collective based in Paris, France that has developed a steadfast following by working for a multitude of international clients..

This is a motion graphic for the guardian, using cartoons to depict films. Very simple and cleverly executed:

Not To Scale: Vincent

'One half of Vincent is former film industry Art Director and lead Animator John Hill....In 2006 he worked as a Design Director on the ITV rebrand for Red Bee Media where he met Vincents other half Rheea Aranha.  '

Vincent is part of Not To Scale,  and have done an MTV Top Ten ident, and in-programme features.

The overall visual is bright and colourful, with a futuristic feel to it, emphasised by the electronic sounds in the music. The spherical objects are like disco balls but remind me of planets. For something like this I imagine Cinema 4D would be used as it is very three dimensional, with lots of different things going on - also there is the use of the three dimensional space, not just the objects.

Yearbook Images: Front Cover Variations

As I couldn't work out how to turn my .psd's into PDF's I have screen shotted my work...

We agreed on 3 variations as a minimum, but I really got into it. Here are different variations for the front cover:

These are only a prototype for our concept. None of this is set in stone. It just gives a starting point in our meeting to work out what the group likes/dislikes and how to take the direction further.

Cinema 4D

What an exciting programme!
Met up with Matt at 9:30 and he showed me some of the basics before letting me off the reign - I didn't create anything 'Hollywood' it's far too early in the game for that. I wish I had started learning this last year!

This is me experimenting with a spherical object reflecting from a HDI - with a light source.

This is a similar image with a background in, I used the clone tool to make 3 spheres instead of 1, and included a shadow by placing an omni light directly above the spheres.

I used a white glossy floor here for the reflections (this is the kind of gloss I want for my white world).

I changed the angle and got rid of the shadow for the spheres. I also toned down the brightness of the floor so the reflection is more subtle.

I changed the position of the spheres, and moved the light source.

Just playing about and created a contoured landscape...Cool!

Here I started to look at how text can be used in Cinema 4D. I have used a car paint purple floor with no walls, and the Eurostile font.

Here I was experimenting with the displacement tag - for individual elements rather than as a whole, using the floor as a solid. Using Impact font.
