3D ITV Logo

I created a three dimensional ITV logo today, although its giving myself more work, it will keep the whole 3D look going rather than using a JPEG.

To make this, In Cinema 4D I made 2 shapes to match the green bars using cube tool, which I then filleted to give the rounded edge. The larger of the two shapes then needed to be made editable and I applied a green car paint to both to give them a sheen, then I had to recreate the 2D logo in vector form in Illustrator, and using this as a texture in Cinema, applying it to the front facing polygon of the larger cube. The 2 was created using the MoText tool and a brushed stainless steel material was applied.



Here are some rendered images of my logo (Back, Front, Side) - I have applied a light to the front on 80% intensity - and there are no floors/sky or other backgrounds in this.

I absolutely love this - it looks real! If only I could have the ITV font...

This looks much more professional than using the 2D version - at least I can rotate around the entire space with this. Thanks to Matt from the AV suite for suggesting to make my own version - there really is no such word as can't.

Final 2 Logos

Camilla decided on these 2 logos:

To be honest the square one is my favourite out of the whole set we presented. It has a modern feel and it's minimal and clear. We just need to nail down on colours before we carry on. On the phone one of Camilla's main concerns was this logo may take up too much space for publications such as letterheads. Therefore we agreed to email her some letterheads this weekend to help make sure she has made the right decision.

Now Camilla has decided on a final logo idea (kind of) Maya and I both went away and experimented with different shape ideas and colours as she suggested:

Business Cards

I want my business cards to be really simple, a limited colour palette, but still bright!

I have investigated into the kind of business cards I'd like to produce - from a book called The Best of Business Card Design...

I love the orange and white, its a great colour contrast, it really stands out. I like how it also works on the back with the black text.

This is the kind of business card I would like, its friendly, funny and eye catching at the same time. And it looks equally as effective on the back.

I like the colours used for these, more than the design. A set of three colours for my business cards could be interesting as it gives the reader the chance to select the one they prefer as opposed to taking one, that everyone else has. IT gives a bit of exclusivity.

This is very corporate but I love the colours and how the hierarchy works within this. The arrows give a feeling of travel and mail and forward thinking, very appropriate and business-like.

These are quite playful in terms of the illustrative type. They work well and suit the business they are promoting.

\From this, it seems I am quite attracted to a single bright colour and white, similar to my current business card colour palette. Bold chunky text also appears to be another common feature.
I would like my next business cards to 'speak' to the reader.

After discussing the feedback with Fred, he advised Maya and I not to design anything else. This made sense, we have spent an awful lot of time on this brief, and have only shown a handful of our designs, so we revisited our older work, and tweaked it!

Comments, Compliments and Complaints Leaflet to Pitch

These are the proposed designs we will pitch to Camilla - put together a little bit last minute, but they work within the guidelines and show how the logos operate on a smaller scale:

Transferring the logos to t-shirts, they are fairly large, but this is to ensure the logo can be seen. As previously mentioned in the guidelines, all material to be read must be quite large and clear for all to read.

Comments, Compliments and Complaints Leaflet Guidelines

Camilla specifically stated she wanted Maya and I to revamp the Comments... leaflet, this is the original design we were supplied with:

I believe we will be working within Category B as St Martins own identity will be used - I am wondering how much freedom this gives us, for now we will follow the guidelines, but this is something that needs to be raised with Camilla.

New Indiependent Logos

I presented the latest logos to the chairman today, and he liked some of the ideas but wanted to base it on an idea similar to mine, that he had made:

Initially I wasn't keen on the idea of the word appearing to be split into 2, but after some discussion I began working on another batch of ideas on site so we could quickly develop this into a final logo to work with, starting with the I as this may be used in circumstances where there isn't space to write Indiependent.

I have been looking at developing Maya's hand concept, which has proven really hard, either the ideas I think of have already been done, or I can't think of any ideas at all.

NHS Logo Development

After Camilla's feedback, I decided to reduce the number of 'people' to 2 - to show partnership. I then have started looking at different colour variations, although some do not work (red, and peach colour - just experiments, to show I have investigated other options, Camilla stated 'interesting variations of normal colours'.

I decided to try and take a new approach, using four people to symbolise a team, using equal sizes this gives the idea of equality. This may work better as the only reason Camilla had said no to the four people originally was because of the idea of a typical family.                            

Youth Charity Logo Development Continued

After experimenting with composition and the new colour scheme, I decided to work the transmission concept back in as this was discussed in email this afternoon. I first began work on the White Rabbit by Alice type face as I felt this was the font choice with the most potential. I am quite pleased with the development of this idea:

Yellow waves with highlights of the bowls in the d,e,p. I feel the highlights make the font a bit more exclusive rather than the standard typeface, it also enforces the idea of transmission and waves, and the transferral of ideas, hence the transferral of the waves:
